Trick or Treat on the Trails

LOCATION:  Hickory Knolls Discovery Center, 3795 Campton Hills Dr, St. Charles

DETAILS:   Dress up in your costume and get into the Halloween spirit! Take a nighttime journey through Hickory Knolls’ beautiful oak savanna for safe and spooky - but not scary - nature fun! Along the trail, encounter activity stations complete with hands-on learning experiences and lots of treats! Bring a flashlight and treat bag. Visit with Hickory’s animal ambassadors who can’t wait to see you. Ages 15 & under must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Haunted Pony Rides 

LOCATION:  Normantown Equestrian Center, Normantown Road, Plainfield

DETAILS:  Trick or treat! Our horses are dressed up in their best Halloween costumes and waiting for you to come take a ride! Please be patient as it takes time to get participants on and off as well as to adjust the equipment. Rides will last for 10 minutes and helmets are provided. Don't forget to bring you camera to snap some great pictures! SPACE IS LIMITED! PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED!

Escape the Mansion: Chef Hans’ Dining Room

LOCATION: Stephen D. Persinger Recreation Center, 3507 Kaneville Rd, Geneva

DATE:  October 12, 2024,  1pm - 9pm​

DETAILS:   Escape the Mansion is an escape room-style event that pits groups of 10 people against the clock to see if they can solve a series of challenges, clues, hidden passwords, and more before time runs out. For one night only, the second floor of the Stephen Persinger Recreation Center is transformed into the fictitious Madam Klara’s Mansion, an estate built in 1799 which has been rumored to be haunted and filled with dark magic. Join us for a dinner party in the mansion’s mysterious dining room, where Chef Hans has prepared a feast and left behind cryptic secrets and hidden clues for you to uncover!


– You must register for a timeslot.
– Max participants per timeslot is 10 people.
– Other groups may register with you for your time slot (up to 10 total per slot).
– Clues are of varying difficulty, recommended for older children and adults, but can be for 6+ with parent help.

Escape Viewing Party
Celebrate your group’s escape (or demise) and watch other groups via livestream at the event’s post-party, located in the Persinger Center’s gymnasium.
– Raffle prizes and games will take place throughout the evening.
– Pizza, soda, and more will be available for purchase!
– Party intended for groups who have participated in the escape room. Those who have yet to participate will not be granted entry in the party until their escape attempt.

DETAILS:  As many of you know, this is a free community event. Consequently, we've never had the funds to afford a stage for our zombies. Last year, we received numerous complaints about not being able to see the dancers, and we completely understand your frustration. Despite this, your support was overwhelming, and we are deeply grateful.

DETAILS:  Join in the fun as the Summer Place Theatre presents its annual Ghost Stories in the Park . . . in the Dark! Enjoy an evening of scary stories sure to send shivers up your spine. This is an outdoor event; please dress warmly and bring blankets and cushions. Not recommended for children under 5. Tickets may be purchased over the phone, online at www.napervilleparks.org or during regular business hours at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center or Fort Hill Activity Center. Tickets can be purchased until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3 for the weekend's shows. After that time, tickets must be purchased at the performance. Cash, check, or PayPal are accepted at the event. Physical tickets are not distributed; staff checks you in at the event. Sorry, no refunds.

Spooktacular Halloween Stroll 2024

DETAILS:   Come to the zoo for some Halloween fun!

Experience an evening stroll through the zoo while enjoying the family-friendly decorations, activities and finishing your visit by decorating a pumpkin (or take a pumpkin to go and decorate at home)! Get your costumes together and register early to secure a spot. All ages are welcome.

​

Cosley Zoo’s Wild Side Gift Shop will be open and additional treats including caramel apples and apple cider, will be available for purchase.

​

To ease the check-in process, entry times are scheduled in 15-minute increments with the last entry at 7:30PM. Space is limited within each entry time.

​

Tickets are available for $12.95 per person for ages 2-adult. Infants age 1 and under are free but do require a ticket.

Tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, your ticket purchase will be considered a donation to the zoo. 100% of proceeds benefit Cosley Zoo.

This event is primarily outdoors. Please dress accordingly for the weather.

In the event of inclement weather, Spooktacular Halloween Stroll at Cosley Zoo will be held Friday, October 25 from 5:15-8:30P with the original reserved entry times. Participants will be notified by email in the event Cosley Zoo cancels Spooktacular Halloween Stroll for 10/18/2024. Tickets are non-refundable. In the event Cosley Zoo cancels Spooktacular Halloween Stroll both nights due to inclement weather, a full refund will be issued.

Howl along to live music, feast your fangs on delicious local cuisine at the Food Truck Graveyard, and quench your undying thirst in our BOOze Bar. Calling all kids and their adults! It’s time to show off your Halloween costumes and enjoy a special trick-or-treat experience at the museum’s historical homes. This special afternoon also includes demonstrations by our blacksmith, a Monster Mash Bash dance party, Halloween-themed games, and a costume contest that will give you bragging rights all year! Children under 18 must attend with an adult. Adults must be accompanying a child. While candy supplies last. 

 

The event will also include a family costume contest! Families can win one of three titles: Best Costumes, Best Family Theme, Most Creative Costumes. Costume contest entrants must sign in at the judging station before judging begins promptly at 1:30PM. Winners will be announced at 3PM. You must be present to win.

Ghost Story Train

Halloween Drive-Around Scavenger Hunt

LOCATION: 100 Parkers Mill, Oswego (Village of Oswego)

CREATE FUN HALLOWEEN MEMORIES WITH YOUR FAMILY!

Household teams will experience what Oswego has to offer, including historical landmarks; Oswego's hidden gems; parks and unique sights throughout the Village. When finished, teams will have 20 great family photos to remember the 2023 Halloween season.

ELIGIBILITY/REGISTRATION INFORMATION

• Teams must consist of family members who reside in the same household (all ages welcome)

• Fee: $20.00 in advance/$25.00 day of

• Net proceeds benefit the Kendall County Food Pantry

• Online registration closes on Oct. 14 at 11:59 pm, 2023. (Applicable online fees apply.)

EVENT DAY INSTRUCTIONS OPTIONAL:

1. Decorate your vehicle for Halloween.

2. Get dressed in Halloween costumes.

REQUIRED:

1. Bring a fully charged mobile phone with photo and e-mail capabilities.

2. Check in at Oswego Village Hall between 11:00 – 11:45 AM. Upon arrival, provide your first and last name and remain inside your vehicle. A Waiver of Liability and Photo Release are required to be signed by all participants or their parents/legal guardians to participate.

3. Volunteers will direct you to designated parking.

4. The Best Decorated Vehicle Contest will begin promptly at check-in. All teams must be checked-in no later than 11:45 AM to be considered.

5. Clues will be passed out after the instructions have been given. Each team will be assigned the clues to their first three starting locations. The first three clues must be solved in the order given to spread everyone out. After that, clues may be solved in any order.

6. Each team will drive from place to place within the Village to solve the clues. After each clue is solved, each team is required to snap a picture including your team at the applicable location, with the Halloween prop indicated in the clue. Next, it should immediately be texted to the Event Coordinator at 1-833-205-6565. Be sure it includes your assigned team letter and the number of the clue being solved. Example: Team A, Clue 1

7. Drivers must obey the posted speed limits at all times.

​

PRIZES - Up to $100 in gift certificates will be awarded

1. One prize will be awarded to the first team that successfully completes the Scavenger Hunt, or, in the case the allotted time expires, it will go to the team that solves the most clues by 2:30 p.m.

2. One prize will be awarded for the best decorated Halloween-themed vehicle. Decorations can be cute, scary, or funny but must be “in good taste”. No weapons (real or fake) of any kind, will be allowed. Five extra points will be awarded to teams whose entire team is dressed in Halloween costumes. Judging will take place starting at check-in.

Trick-or-Treat At Safety Town in Naperville

LOCATION: Naperville Safety Town, 1320 Aurora Avenue, Naperville

 

DATE: October 19, 2024 from 10am - 3pm​

DETAILS:  Learn PUMPKINS safe trick or treat tips, and trick or treat on the town! Costumes encouraged! Perfect for children ages 3-12, younger children are welcome to join us as well. We will have activity stations and many local businesses handing out toys, coupons, stickers, candy and more!

Halloween Hop 

LOCATION: Downtown Naperville

DETAILS:   Calling all costumed characters, ghouls, goblins, witches, and superheroes. Come to Downtown Naperville on 10/27 to enjoy a great morning filled with fun and surprises (both candy and non-candy goodies)! Dozens of downtown businesses will be open early (at 10am) and will be handing out Halloween surprises! The Naperville Trolley will be downtown for FREE Trick or Treat Trolley Rides!

Goebbert's  & Larsen Halloween Drive Thru Light Show

LOCATION: Goebbert's Farm, 42W813 Reinking Rd. Pingree Grove

DETAILS: 

This ticket is for BOTH the Goebbert's Farm Drive Thru Halloween Light Show and the Larsen Halloween Light Show (both located at Goebbert's Farm-Pingree Grove) on the same night.

THERE IS NOT A SEPARATE TICKET FOR EACH SHOW. THIS TICKET IS VALID FOR BOTH SHOWS OR EITHER SHOW.

Larsen's Halloween Light Show starts on the hour and half hour, and runs for approximately 30 minutes. The Goebbert's Drive Thru Show runs continuously and can be viewed either before or after Larsen's show.

Boo at the Zoo

Gather your ghoulfriends, little ghosts, and goblins for this fun-filled family event. Check out the creatures, creepy crawlers, and more in your costumes at the Halloween-themed event that's perfect for family photo ops. All ages are in for a fang-tastic time, and the kids will leave with a sweet treat. 

​

While there will not be a costume contest, showing off your creative costumes is encouraged! No guests over 13 are allowed in the Zoo in full-body costumes with their head covered. This is to avoid confusion and for the safety of all guests. All activities are weather-dependent, and schedule/programming is subject to change.
